Role Overview:

As Manager – Public Policy, Advocacy & Strategic Communications, you will be responsible for developing and executing advocacy and public affairs mandates for clients across sectors.

The role requires someone who can go beyond tracking policy developments and demonstrate the ability to answer:

“So what does this mean for the client, what should they do about it, and how do we influence the conversation?”

You will work closely with senior client stakeholders and internal teams to translate complex policy and regulatory developments into clear strategic recommendations, advocacy programmes and communication narratives.

Key Responsibilities:

Policy & Regulatory Intelligence

• Track and analyse key policy, regulatory and legislative developments relevant to clients and their sectors
• Develop policy briefs, issue notes, regulatory updates, stakeholder maps and strategic recommendations
• Identify emerging policy trends, risks and opportunities that could impact client businesses
• Translate complex policy developments into concise, business-oriented insights for senior stakeholders

Public Policy & Advocacy Strategy

• Develop advocacy strategies aligned with client business objectives and the broader policy environment
• Identify key stakeholders across government, regulators, industry bodies, think tanks, academia, media and other relevant ecosystems
• Build stakeholder engagement frameworks and recommend appropriate engagement pathways
• Develop issue-based advocacy campaigns and programmes that create informed, credible and sustained conversations around policy matters
• Support clients in navigating complex policy and regulatory environments with a consultative approach

Strategic Communications

• Translate policy positions and technical subjects into compelling narratives for different stakeholder group
• Develop communication strategies around policy issues, including thought leadership, positioning, campaigns and stakeholder outreach
• Work with media relations teams to identify opportunities for credible policy-led conversations and thought leadership
• Support senior executives and industry leaders with speeches, articles, op-eds, talking points, presentations and policy communication material

Digital & Social Media Amplification

• Develop digital amplification strategies for policy and advocacy campaigns
• Identify relevant conversations, platforms and audiences across social and digital ecosystems
• Work with digital and creative teams to translate policy narratives into engaging and accessible content
• Monitor online conversations and sentiment around policy issues and recommend timely interventions

Client Advisory & Consulting

• Act as a trusted strategic advisor to clients on policy, advocacy and public affairs matters
• Independently manage client mandates and contribute to senior-level client discussions
• Present strategic recommendations and insights with a strong understanding of both policy considerations and business implications
• Anticipate client needs and proactively identify opportunities for new advocacy and communications interventions
• Collaborate with integrated teams across corporate communications, public affairs, digital, content and creative to deliver holistic solutions

Team & Account Leadership

• Mentor and guide junior team members working on policy and advocacy mandates
• Drive high-quality deliverables, timelines and client outputs
• Coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of campaigns and programmes
• Contribute to new business pitches, proposals and thought leadership initiatives

Ideal Candidature:

We are looking for a professional who combines policy depth with a consulting mindset and strong communication capability.

The ideal candidate would bring:

• 7-8 years of relevant experience in public policy, public affairs, advocacy, government relations, strategic communications, consulting or related fields
• Experience in a consulting, PR/public affairs agency, government, think tank, industry association or policy advisory environment is preferred
• Postgraduate qualification in Public Policy, Law, Economics, Political Science, Governance, International Relations or related fields; an MBA from a reputed B-School or strong management consulting pedigree with relevant policy/public affairs exposure will be an added advantage
